All You Need To Know About Boudoir Photography

What Is Boudoir Photography?

Historically, the term Boudoir was used to describe a ladys dressing room. In the early 1980s Boudoir photography was first used to refer to a type of intimate photography. Nowadays, its quite popular for women to have Boudoir photographs done, usually to surprise that special someone in their life. Boudoir photography sessions can be as varied as each individual. Each person has their unique opinion of what is sensual and beautiful and each photography session and resulting photos reflect that beauty.

What if I dont feel comfortable making Nude Photos?

A Boudoir Photography session should be fun! If youre uncomfortable posing for Nude photographs then dont do them. Every woman is beautiful and sexy. You dont have to take your clothes off to take gorgeous sensual photographs. Working in collaboration with an experienced photographer you can create amazing images clothed, partially clothed or implied nude (when the photographer sets the scene so that you appear to be nude but nothing is showing). Communication is key make sure that you have talked in detail with the photographer about your comfort levels and what your vision is of the finished product and trust that he or she will keep everything hidden that you want hidden. Thanks to modern digital technology it is not difficult to add in extra shadows or use blurring effects to make sure that the finished product is exactly what you want. Keep in mind also that some photographers may not shoot nude photographs, so if you are looking for nude photos ask!

But Im too old! Im too overweight! Im not pretty enough!

Every woman is beautiful and sexy! Ignore the overly skinny supermodels that you see everyday in advertisements! Real women are all around you and they are all beautiful. Be confident in yourself and your sensual nature. And be confident that your photographer is experienced and can arrange lighting and posing in order to capture your best side.

What do I wear?

Wear what you feel sexy in! A Boudoir Photography session has ample time for several wardrobe changes so bring any outfits you think you might want to wear and any accessories that go with it. Examples include a mans white dress shirt; a baseball jersey and ball cap; lacy nightie; a French maids costume (great use of old Halloween costumes) and feather duster; plaid mini skirt and white button down shirt and anything else you can imagine! Bring along a suitcase full of outfits. Dont forget high heeled shoes, necklaces, bracelets and other accessories hats, feather boas, etc. This is a good time to play dress up! Plan out your outfits ahead of time and try them on with different jewelry to see how they look. The photographer may also bring some additional accessories but you should ask about props ahead of time.

What about my Make-up?

Many ladies can do their own make-up but there are other options. Salons and department store make-up counters can be good resources or you can ask your photographer if they have someone they recommend. In most cases the photography studio can contract a make up artist for an additional fee. Dont feel compelled to wear a lot of make-up if it simply isnt your style.

Where should I have Boudoir Photographs taken?

These are not the kind of images that are on a check list at a mall portrait studio, they need to be personal and intimate. Many women choose a photographer who will come to their home and take photographs in their bedroom. Other women choose to go to the photographers studio and have their Boudoir session there. These days, though, Boudoir isnt limited to a bedroom setting and lingerie. A number of my own customers have come to me because they were intrigued by my Retro Pinup work. This is yet another option in Boudoir photography.

Nervous? What about a Group Photo Session?

You and three or four of your best girlfriends can get together and do your sessions at the same time. These can be done at the studio, your home or on location and should be approached with a party atmosphere. Each of you will be photographed individually as you are dressed (or undressed) based on each persons comfort level.
Some photographers (but not all) offer couples sessions. These sessions are romantic, sensual, playful, fun and always tasteful. If you are interested in this type of session make it part of a weekend away at a local hotel. This leaves you free from distractions and you will have some extra memories of the event.

Retouching

Many photographers include retouching with their portrait prints and albums but be sure to ask how much is included with your session. Most photographers will include minor retouching and color correction as part of their service after all they want their work to be well represented.

Protecting your privacy

Privacy should be a major concern during your boudoir sessions. All boudoir images are kept in strict confidence and no images will be shown without permission from the client in writing. Make sure your photographer has a privacy policy as well as any professional printers they may use.

Preparing for a Boudoir Photo Session

Wear loose fitting clothing. Avoid tight fitting undergarments as they are the most likely to leave elastic pressure lines on your skin. If you are not doing the session at your home bring as many accessories, outfits and ideas as you can. If you decide to not use everything then it is just a little extra to carry around but its far better then to wish you had brought something.

Underwater Wedding Photography Ideas

Underwater wedding photography ideas sometimes cross the mind of the bride when looking over fantastic pictures online. The imagery is astounding and the brides look like underwater fairies that take nymphs to a higher level.

Achieving the same effects in a real wedding would be harder though and as a photographer it is best to put the realities of the shoot into their proper perspective before the bride and the groom makes a commitment and get the shock of their lives.

Simply going underwater with the P.A.D.I. certified pastor or photographer will not produce the nymph like pictures that could be seen in the samples. The reality of blurry pictures and untidy looks is all too real with underwater weddings.

A photographer experienced in underwater wedding photography should be contacted and a good discussion of what happens should be done. Usually, the professionals cost a whole lot more, but if money is not an object, then the pictures take would be worth every penny paid.

For one thing, these professionals would not just take the pictures off hand underwater during the wedding; they would instead insist that separate pictures be taken before. They would have to discuss and show the bride how to be dressed and made up for an underwater shoot and they would have to spend a lot of time underwater for that perfect shot.

The photographer would probably have a fibreglass clear tank from where the bride could go in and pose in front of the camera that is outside the tank. All the while there would be adjustments made and as this could take a lot of time, it could sometimes take hours getting wet before the final wrap up.

Another to consider would be the willingness of the groom to do exactly the same thing. As men in general may find this idea appalling, most of the great underwater photographs would just be of the bride. But at least, the resulting portraits would be fantastic enough to display in full in the foyer or in the living room where it could be a focus for discussion in the near future.

Think carefully before embarking on this endeavour and choose the right photographer who has experience with these types of wedding photography.

The Popularity of Beanie Babies

One of the most popular toys ever with kids is Beanie Babies. They were originally launched in 1993. From the very start they were very popular with people who would often stand in long lines in order to buy them.

The toys might have been named Beanies because of the beans (plastic pellets) that are stuffed inside them.

Beanies Babies in a smaller size were called Teenie Beanies and they were given away at McDonalds. If you purchased a Happy Meal then you would also receive a free Teenie Beanie. At one time a complete set could sell for about $100 on eBay.

From the introduction of the Beanie Baby there were two tags attached to them. The heart shaped “swing tag” and the “tush tag” on the toys bottom. As time went by both the tags have changed. The later generation heart tags also had a poem and birth date.

The creator of Beanies, Ty Warner, had a winning marketing strategy in the beginning that created a lot of excitement and demand for the toys.
Ty kept the price of the toys low so they were affordable to the masses. Contains about anyone could afford to spend about five dollars for these cute stuffed toys.

In the beginning production and distribution was limited to only small retailers. Retailers could only order a certain quantity each month. By making them scarce Ty was able to increase the publics demand for them.

Ty would also “retire” them after a few months. To “retire” a Beanie meant that it would no longer be manufactured. This created even more scarcity and demand for the toys.

In 2008 the toys went online and were referred to as 2.0. Ty had a special website for them. It was a short time later that production of the 2.0 Beanies ended because they just werent popular enough with people.

Some of the most notable Beanie Babies among them is Garcia the bear which became popular for its ty-dyed colors.

Decade the bear was also popular and was made in honor of the tenth anniversary of the Beanie Babies.

Beanie Babies went through many changes, but they always remained the most popular soft toy in the marketplace.

Today you can find the Babies anywhere from a small gift shop to big box stores like Target.
The toys popularity and the demand for them decreased as Ty increased the production and distribution outlets for them.

Even though the Beanies arent as popular as they used to be, children still love them. It is hard to find a quality stuffed toy that sells for about five dollars that brings so much joy to people.

Suffolk Wedding Photography

I have been researching Suffolk wedding photographers, as I plan to hold my wedding in the near future. It is a difficult choice. Obviously one wants the very best when it comes to wedding photography in order to capture the moments and memories of your special, once-in-a-life-time (at least thats the general idea!) day.

The thing is, there are just so much first-class, professional Suffolk wedding photography available that it is difficult to choose just one photographer! I have narrowed my search down, and here are a few examples of what I consider to be the best Suffolk wedding photography available.

Alex Kilbee is a very friendly man, who studied photography at Pretoria Technikon Photography School in South Africa in the early 90’s and with his 15 years of wedding & magazine photography experience you are sure to be in safe hands. The style of photography is relaxed I have been told you will hardly notice he is there on the day itself! His wedding packages can be tailor-made and he offers a mid-week package at a very reasonable rate. Alex offers his services across the whole of the UK.

Photos by Jessica is another friendly service on offer for your wedding photography needs. Jessica has explained to me that she takes a very personal approach with every single client she works with, allowing her to make sure that the bride & grooms personalities are displayed in each shot. More conventional photographs, such as group shots after the ceremony, are also available if this is what you are looking for. She is also very adaptable with the finished images and albums, and offers a tailor-made service to suit your needs. Jessica also often runs special offers.

Sara Thomas is a very modern photographer. She uses a contemporary style that has emerged from her previous working experience as a photojournalist. With Sara, your wedding day will be captured in the style of a documentary, covering not just the major events of the day but the minor ones also – such as preparation and shots of what your friends & family were getting up to at your reception when you werent looking!

These are just a few of my top picks for the Suffolk wedding photographers. Wedding Photographs are a bunch of memories which you will cherish for the rest of your life, good luck in your search and your new life!

Creative Senior Adults Busily Painting Masterpieces

The baby-boomers have become senior citizens and are discovering art at the same time. Senior art classes and programs are full of energetic individuals learning to express themselves through painting and drawing. Researchers say that art helps folks to cope with stress and trauma in their lives, as well as increasing self awareness. Art serves as a way to explore both the past and the present and previous training is not required. Seniors benefit from creating their own art no matter what their skill levels currently are. Studies suggest that regardless of specific skills, the practice of any form of art benefits social, physical and mental health.

Relationships are enriched with art and getting together with others in a program or class encourages socialization. The practice of art techniques begins to encourage the mind to see the world is new ways and provides a very unique and real sense of accomplishment and happiness. Art therapy improves the quality of life for seniors and depression fades away. A feeling of being in charge returns, along with an increased ability to make choices because there are countless choices to make in each work of art.

A ten-year-long study done at Columbia University Medical Center has associated a positive outlook with health benefits. Another two-year study of three-hundred seniors found that the art students had better health than those who did not participate, who also saw deterioration in their health. The active artists in the group were less depressed, used fewer medications, were less lonely, and had higher morale, along with being socially more active.

Many communities across the USA are reaching out to seniors, based on the above findings, to encourage them to discover the real rewards of creating a new art hobby in their lives. New York City’s Department of Cultural Affairs has created a program to match seniors with artists on a citywide basis for a seven-month-long residency program to encourage artistic creativity. In Chicago, Mather’s-More Than a Caf offers painting and art classes for seniors. In Los Angeles, older adults are encouraged to participate in Art Festivals held in various locations throughout the city. In Atlanta, the Parks and Recreation Department has Senior Centers which offer a wide variety of art classes specifically for seniors to encourage the “growth of new brain cells and make you feel young and energized.”

When the younger generation views the artistic talents of seniors it changes the way they view their elders. They become more appreciative and begin to value and view them as mentors, tutors, teachers, advisors and creators who are eager to share the wisdom they’ve gained through long life experiences.

In the Village of Stone Mountain, Georgia there is one enterprising entrepreneur who has come up with a way to help his fellow seniors make a little money from their hobbies, too. When Les Scarborough discovered that the senior budding artists at a local retirement home were simply hiding their art work under the bed, he decided to open a gallery in the village specifically to share their art work and sell it.

Les features the artwork of seniors at the Clothesline Art and Fine Art Treasures Gallery, along with his own photography, in downtown Stone Mountain, GA. He turns their artwork into post cards, greeting cards, DVDs, coffee table books, and calendars along with gallery quality Gicle prints on canvas and fine art papers. Gicle is the ultimate method for producing stunning gallery quality fine art prints.
